Game 67: Islanders Defeat Devils 4-2

    The New Jersey Devils lost 2-4 to the Islanders in New York on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

    Mike Mottau put the puck past Dwayne Roloson at 2:25 of the first period to give New Jersey an early 1-0 lead.   Rod Pelley and Dean McAmmond assisted on Mottau's second goal of the season.

    Freddy Meyer beat Yann Danis to tie the game at 17:23.

    The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-11 in the first period, which ended with the teams tied, 1-1.

    Jon Sim made it 2-1 New York with a goal at 11:59 of the second period.   Mart Streit added a power-play goal just 50 seconds later to increase the Islanders lead to two goals.

    The second period ended with the Islanders leading 3-1.   The Islanders outshot the Devils 10-7 in the period.

    Ilya Kovalchuk got the Devils back in the game with a goal just 1:41 into the third period.   Dean McAmmond was credited with the only assist on Kovalchuk's 36th goal of the season.

    Sean Bergenheim made it 4-2 New York with a short-handed goal at 11:33.
