March 12, 2010 Game 66: Devils Beat Penguins 3-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in Newark
on Friday, March 12, 2010.
The Devils took an early lead over the Penguins when Patrik Elias
beat Marc-Andre Fleury just 1:43 into the first period. Andy Greene and
Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Elias' 12th goal of the season.
Sidney Crosby evened the score by beating Martin Brodeur just 42
seconds later.
The Penguins outshot the Devils 13-8 in the first period, which
ended with the game tied 1-1.
Neither team scored in the second period, in which the Devils
outshot the Penguins 19-7.
Andy Greene scored just 2:06 into the third period to give New
Jersey a 2-1 lead. Ilya Kovalchuk and Bryce Salvador assisted on
Greene's sixth goal of the season.
The Devils took a two goal lead when Ilya Kovalchuk scored his
35th goal of the season at 9:59. Dainius Zubrus and Travis Zajac
assisted on the goal.
