The New Jersey Devils were victorious, 6-3 over the New York
Rangers at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Rob Niedermayer gave the Devils an early lead with a goal that
beat Hanky Lunqvist at 4:16 of the first period. Niedermayer's eighth
goal of the season was assisted by Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau.
Vinny Prospal evened the score with a goal that beat Martin
Brodeur just 57 seconds later.
Bryce Salvador put the Devils back on top with a goal at 18:17.
Andy Greene and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on Salvador's fourth goal
of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading 2-1. The
Devils outshot the Rangers 8-6 in the period.
Erik Christensen tied the game with a goal at 5:01 of the second
A power-play goal from Zach Parise gave the Devils their third
lead of the game at 8:38. Parise's 31st goal of the season was assisted
by Dainius Zubrus and Travis Zajac.
Brandron Prust tied the game once again with a goal for New York
Jamie Langenbrunner's 16th goal of the season put the Devils
ahead again at 13:06. Mike Mottau and Andy Greene assisted on the
Brian Rolston tipped the puck past Lundqvist at 15:19, sending
the crying Rangers netminder to the bench. Rob Niedermayer and David
Clarkson assisted on Rolston's 18th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 13-7 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 5-3.
Travis Zajac put the nail in the Rangers coffin with a goal that
beat Alex Auld at 16:21. Zajac's 21st goal of the season was assisted by
Dainius Zubrus and Zach Parise.
