The New Jersey Devils were victorious in Atlanta, beating the
Thrashers 5-4 on Saturday, December 19, 2009.
Ron Hainsey beat Martin Brodeur at 7:15 of the first period to
give the Thrashers a 1-0 lead.
Rob Niedermayer beat Ondrej Pavelec at 12:55 to tie the game.
Niedermayer's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Jay Pandolfo and
Nik Antropov scored at 14:30 and Pavel Kubina beat Brodeur at
17:14 to make it 3-1 Atlanta.
In a period that the Devils outshot the Thrashers 24-6, Atlanta
outscored the Devils 3 goals to 1.
Yann Danis started the second period in goal for New
Brian Rolston cut the Thrashers lead to a single goal by scoring
at 2:46 of the second period. Colin White was credited with the only
assist on Rolston's 13th goal of the season.
Dean McAmmond tied the game with a power-play goal at 6:12.
Zach Parise and Andy Greene assisted on McAmmond's second goal of the
Rod Pelley scored at 10:04 to make it 4-3 New Jersey. The
only assist on Pelley's first goal of the season was credited to Vladimir
The Thrashers outshot the Devils 12-9 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 4-3.
Dean McAmmond scored his second goal of the game at 11:45 of the
third period to give New Jersey a 5-3 lead. Patrik Elias and Zach Parise
assisted on the goal.
Vyacheslav Kozlov scored for Atlanta at 16:04 to cut the Devils
lead to one goal.
