The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-2 victory at home over the
Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, December 9, 2009.
Patrik Elias gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Cam Ward at 11:11 of the first period. Elias' fourth goal of the season
was assisted by Niclas Bergfors and Zach Parise.
Andy Greene made it 2-0 New Jersey with a goal at 17:53.

The Devils oushot the Hurricanes 10-7 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading 2-0.
At 6:05 of the second period, Andy Greene scored his second goal
of the game on a power-play. Zach Parise was credited with the only
assist on the goal.
Brandon Sutter got the Canes on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur just 43 seconds later. Tuomo Ruutu got Carolina
within a single goal when he put the puck past Martin Brodeur at 8:46.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 3-2. New
Jersey outshot Carolina 13-9 in the period.
Rob Niedermayer sealed the Devils victory with an empty net
shorthanded goal with just one second remaining in the third period.
