Game 23: Devils Beat Bruins 2-1 in Shootout

    The New Jersey Devils were victorious, 2-1 over the Bruins in Boston in a shootout on Friday, November 27, 2009.   Martin Brodeur broke another record in this game, now holding the record for career minutes played.

    Neither team scored in the first period.   The Devils outshot the Bruins 10-9 in the period.

    Zach Parise pushed the leg of Tuukka Rask and the puck over the goal line at 9:45 of second period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.   Matt Halischuk and Bryce Salvador assisted on Parise's 14th goal of the season.

    The second period ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.   The Devils outshot the Bruins 15-10 in the period.

    Blake Wheeler tied the game with a goal that beat Martin Brodeur just 12 seconds into the third period.

    Regulation time ended with the score tied, 1-1 and neither team was able to score in the five minute overtime, forcing the shootout.
