The New Jersey Devils defeated the Penguins 4-1 in Pittsburgh on
Saturday, October 24, 2009.
Mark Fraser scored his first career NHL goal at 9:50 of the first
period. Nicklas Bergfors and Dainius Zubrus assisted on the goal that
beat Marc-Andre Fleury.
The Penguins outshot the Devils 12-9 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Nicklas Bergfors gave the Devils a 2-0 lead with a power-play
goal at 14:31 of the second period. Rody Pelley and Jamie Langenbrunner
assisted on Bergfors' second goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Penguins 12-11 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading, 2-0.
The Devils took a 3-0 lead when Travis Zajac scored just 26
seconds into the third period. Zach Parise was credited with the only
assist on Zajac's fifth goal of the season
Alex Goligoski ruined Martin Brodeur's shutout bid with a goal at
Zach Parise made it 4-1 with a goal at 16:32. Travis Zajac
was credited with the only assist on Parise's sixth of the season.
