October 10, 2009 Game 4: Devils Beat Panthers 3-2
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-2 victory in Florida over the
Panthers on Saturday, October 10, 2009. After losing their first two
games this season at the Prudential Center, the Devils have now won two
straight on the road.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 16-4 in the first period, which
ended with the game still scoreless.
Rob Niedermayer beat Tomas Vokoun at 11:14 of the second period
to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Paul Martin and Brian Rolston assisted on
Niedermayer's second goal of the season.
Rostislav Olesz beat Martin Brodeur at 13:58 to tie the game,
1-1.
A power-play goal from Travis Zajac at 17:47 gave the Devils a
2-1 lead. &nbs; Andy Greene and Brian Rolston assisted on Zajac's third goal
of the season.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 13-9 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-1.
Stephen Weiss scored a power-play goal at 14:37 of the third
period to tie the game, 2-2.
David Clarkson tipped a great pass from Travis Zajac past Vokoun
at 16:25 on a power-play to give the Devils a 3-2 lead. Zach Parise also
assisted on Clarkson's first goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-8 in the third period and
41-21 in the game.
