April 11, 2009 Game 82: Devils Beat Hurricanes 3-2
The New Jersey Devils skated at home to a 3-2 victory over the
Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, April 11, 2009.
David Clarkson gave the Devils an early lead with a goal that
beat Michael Leighton at 2:52 of the first period. Brian Rolston and
Bryce Salvador assisted on Clarkson's 17th goal of the season.
Anton Babchuk tied the game with a power-play goal that beat
Martin Brodeur at 6:34.
Zach Parise scored his 45th goal of the season at 11:57 to give
the Devils a 2-1 lead. Niclas Havelid and Brian Rolston assisted on the
goal.
The first period ended with the Devils leading, 2-1. They
outshot the Hurricanes 11-10 in the period.
Neither team scored in the second period, in which the Devils
outshot the Hurricanes 13-8.
Babchuk tied the game with another power-play goal at 4:42 of the
third period.
Dainius Zubrus won the game for New Jersey with a goal at 15:34.
Brian Gionta was credited with the only assist on Zubrus' 15th goal of
the season.
