February 26, 2009 Game 61: Marty Returns, Delivers 4-0 Shutout Over Avalanche
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-0 on
Thursday, February 26, 2009. Martin Brodeur returned to the ice and
authored the 99th shutout of his career.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Andrew Raycroft at 4:38 of the first
period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Travis Zajac and Zach Parise
assisted on Langenbrunner's 19th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Avalanche 8-5 in the first period, which
ended with the Devil leading, 1-0.
Number 24 of the season for Patrik Elias at 8:43 of the second,
on a power-play gave the Devils a 2-0 lead. Paul Martin and Zach Parise
assisted on the goal.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 2-0. New
Jersey outshot Colorado 16-12 in the period.
Zach Parise made it a three goal lead with a great goal at 8:06
of the third period. Jamie Langenbrunner was credited with the only
assist on Parise's 36th of the season.
Travis Zajac made it 4-0 with a goal at 16:47. Paul Martin
and Johnny Oduya assisted on Zajac's 17th goal of the season.
