January 29, 2009Game 49: Devils Beat Bruins: 4-3 in Overtime
The New Jersey Devils recovered to beat the Bruins 4-3 in
overtime in Boston on Thursday, January 29, 2009. The win extends New
Jersey's winning streak to seven games. The season series is
now tied, 1-1.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Tim Thomas short-handed at 15:01 of the
first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Langenbrunner's 11th goal of
the season was assisted by Travis Zajac.
The Bruins outshot the Devils 14-8 in the first period, but the
Devils led 1-0 after the first 20 minutes of play.
The Devils took a two goal lead when Zach Parise scored at 13:39
of the second period on a power-play. Paul Martin and Jamie
Langenbrunner assisted on Parise's 29th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 13-5 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading, 2-0.
Chuck Kobasew beat Clemmensen at 2:19 of the third period to get
the Bruins on the board. Marc Savard tied the game with a goal at 7:11.
Dennis Wideman scored the Bruins third straight goal of the game to give
Boston their first lead of the game at 13:30.
Patrik Elias tied the game, beating Thomas at 18:15.
Elias' 22nd goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Johnny
Regulation time ended with the teams tied, 3-3. The Devils
outshot the Bruins 7-6 in the third period.
Jamie Langenbrunner won the game for New Jersey with a goal at
1:11 of the overtime period. Travis Zajac and Colin White assisted on
