January 02, 2009 Game 37: Devils Beat Canadiens 4-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 at the
Prudential Center on Friday, January 2, 2009.
Brian Gionta blasted the puck past Jaroslav Halak at 14:21 of the
first period. Patrik Elias and Mike Mottau assisted on Gionta's 10th
goal of the season.
Max Pacioretty tied the game with a goal that beat Scott
Clemmensen at 16:30.
Zach Parise regained the lead for New Jersey with a goal at
18:25. Jamie Langenbrunner and Travis Zajac assisted on Parise's 22nd of
the season.
The Canadiens outshot the Devils 13-9 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-1.
Johnn Madden finally broke his scoring drought with a goal at
11:11 of the second period. Jay Pandolfo and Andy Greene assisted on
Madden's fourth goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Habs, 3-1.
New Jersey outshot Montreal 13-10 in the second period.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Halak at 13:11 of the third period to
make it a 4-1 Devils lead. Langenbrunner's sixth goal of the season was
assisted by Zach Parise and Bryce Salvador.
