The New Jersey Devils defeated the Blues 4-3 in St. Louis on
Tuesday, December 30, 2008.
Zach Parise gave the Devils an early lead with a goal that beat
Manny Legace just 1:02 into the first period. Jamie Langenbrunner
assisted on Parise's 20th goal of the season.
Brad Boyes beat Scott Clemmensen to even the score at
4:19. David Backes gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead with a goal at 7:41.
The first period ended with the Blues leading, 2-1. The
Blues outshot the Devils 10-8 in the period.
A goal from Brian Rolston 2:37 into the second period tied the
game, 2-2. David Clarkson and Bobby Holik assisted on Rolston's fifth
tally of the season.

Alexander Steen gave the Blues hope with a goal with just 30
seconds remaining in the third period. The Devils were able to hold on,
to win the game, 4-3. The Blues outshot the Devils 11-10 in the third
period and 31-26 in the game.
