December 13, 2008 Game 27: Sabres Beat Devils 4-2
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-4 at home to the Buffalo Sabres on
Saturday, December 13, 2008.
Thomas Vanek beat Kevin Weekes just 1:10 into the first period
to give Buffalo an early 1-0 lead. The first period ended with the
Sabres leading, 1-0. The Sabres oushot the Devils 8-7 in the
period.
Patrik Elias tied the game just 58 seconds into the second
period. Elias' 13th goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and
Colin White.
Bobby Holik scored his first goal of the season at 5:09 to give
New Jersey a 2-1 lead. The goal was assisted by David Clarkson and Mike
Rupp.
A Buffalo power-play goal at 11:05 from Drew Stafford tied the
game, 2-2. Buffalo oushot New Jersey 18-9 in the second period, which
ended with the game tied, 2-2.
Derek Roy scored a power-play goal at 8:43 of the third period
and Thomas Vanek scored his second goal of the game at 12:54 to make it a 4-2
Sabres lead.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 8-6 in the third period and 34-22
in the game.
