November 26, 2008 Game 21: Devils Recover, Beat Panthers 3-2 in Overtime
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Panthers 3-2 in overtime in
Florida on Wednesday, November 26, 2008.
Brian Gionta gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal
that beat Tomas Vokoun at 5:33 of the first period. Johnny Oduya was
credited with the only assist on Gionta's seventh goal of the season.
The Devils took a two goal lead when Travis Zajac buried the puck
at 18:25. Zajac's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Jamie
Langenbrunner and Zach Parise.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-4 in the first period - which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-0.
New Jersey outshot Florida 16-13 in the second period, in which
no goals were scored.
Jay Bouwmeester beat Scott Clemmensen at 17:41 and David Booth
scored at 19:52 to tie the game 2-2 and send the game to overtime. The
Panthers outshot the Devils 16-7 in the third period.
The Devils survived a 4 on 3 overtime penalty kill and Johnny
Oduya won the game with a goal at the 4:04 mark of the extra frame.
