The New Jersey Devils defeated the New York Islanders 5-2 at the
Prudential Center on Friday, November 21, 2008.
David Clarkson scored a power-play goal that beat Joey MacDonald
at 18:41 of the first period. Johnny Oduya and Brian Gionta assisted on
Clarkson's fifth goal of the season.
Just 10 seconds later, Travis Zajac scored to make it 2-0 New
Jersey. Zajac's third goal of the season was assisted by Jamie
Langenbrunner and Zach Parise.
After 20 minutes of play, the Devils led the Islanders 2-0.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-9 in the period.
Andy Hilbert got the Islanders on the board with a goal that beat
Kevin Weekes at 3:29 of the second period.
Bryce Salvador answered just 23 seconds later to re-gain the
Devils two goal lead. Savador's first of the season was assisted by
Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise.
Sean Bergenheim scored at 13:04 to cut the Devils lead to a

scored a short-handed goal, making it 4-2 New Jersey. Patrik Elias and
Zach Parise assisted.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 14-9 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading 4-2.
Paul Martin added a 5 on 3 power-play goal at 12:32 of the third
period to give the Devils a 5-2 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrik
Elias assisted on Martin's second goal of the season.
The game ended with the Devils victorious - 5-2 win over the
Islanders. The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-4 in the third period and
33-27 in the game.
