The New Jersey Devils beat the Capitals 4-3 in Washington in a
shootout on Saturday, October 18, 2008.

to give Washington a 1-0 lead.

ended with the score tied, 1-1.
Washington took a 2-1 lead with a goal from Mike Green 5 on 3
power-play goal at 12:18 of the second period.
&bsp; The second period ended with the Capitals leading 2-1.
Washington outshot New Jersey 11-9 in the period.
Zach Parise evened the score with a power-play goal at 10:34 of
the third period. Jamie Langenbrunner and Dainius Zubrus assisted on
Parise's third goal of the season.
Andy Greene scored his first goal of the season at 11:42 to give
the Devils their first lead of the game. Zach Parise and Jamie
Langennbrunner assisted on the goal.
Alexander Semin scored his second goal of the game at 14:49 to
tie the game, 3-3.
Regulation time ended with the score still tied, 3-3. The
Devils outshot the Caps 9-5 in the third period.
Neither team scored in the 5 minute overtime period, sending the
game to a shootout.
