The New Jersey Devils beat the New York Islanders 2-1 in overtime
on Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
Josef Vasicek beat Martin Brodeur at 10:08 of the first period to
give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-9 in the first period, but
trailed 0-1 on the scoreboard.
Patrik Elias tied the game with a power-play goal at 5:42 of the
second period. Johnny Oduya and Paul Martin assisted on Elias' 20th goal
of the season.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 21-5 in the second period, which
ended with the game tied, 1-1.
Neither team scored in the third period, sending the game to
Zach Parise won the game for New Jersey with a goal just 29
seconds into the overtime period. Johnny Oduya and Patrik Elias assisted
on Parise's 32nd goal of the season.
