The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 to the New York Rangers at Madison
Square Garden on Thursday, March 27, 2008.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 12-8 in the first period, though
there were no goals scored in the firs 20 minutes of game play.
Brendan Shanahan gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead with a power-play
goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 5:21 of the second period.
Patrik Elias finally scored for New Jersey to tie the game 1-1
with a goal at 11:38. Paul Martin and Dainius Zubrus assisted on Elias'
19th goal of the season.
Zach Parise gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal
that beat Henrik Lundqvist at 18:13.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 13-11 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading 2-1.
Chris Backman tied the game with a power-play goal just 1:38 into
the third period.
Nigel Dawes was credited with a goal that beat Brodeur at 16:54
of the third period to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead.
