March 08, 2008 Game 69: Devils Beat Maple Leafs 2-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the Maple Leafs 2-1 in Toronto on
Saturday, March 8, 2008 to sweep the season series 4-0.
Zach Parise gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at
11:19 of the first period. Parise's 29th goal of the season was
assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and Karel Rachunek.
The Maple Leafs outshot the Devils 15-10 in the first period, but
the Devils led 1-0 after the first 20 minutes.
Neither team scored a goal in the second period, though Toronto
outshot the Devils 12-10 in the period.
Mats Sundin tied the game with a power-play goal that beat Martin
Brodeur at 13:44 of the third period.
Zach Parise took back the lead with the game-winning goal with
just 49 seconds remaining in the third period. Parise's second goal of
the game was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrik Elias.
