February 20, 2008 Game 61: Devils Beat Sharks 3-2
The New Jersey Devils beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 at the
Prudential Center on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.
The Sharks outshot the Devils 6-4 in the first period, but the
score remained 0-0.
Jonathan Cheechoo beat Martin Brodeur 35 seconds into the second
period on a power-play to give San Jose a 1-0 lead.
Zach Parise tied the game with a goal that beat Thomas Greiss at
7:56. Jamie Langenbrunner and Patrik Elias assisted on Parise's 24th goal
of the season.
The Devils took their first lead of the game at 16:56 when John
Madden made it 2-1 New Jersey. Madden's 16th goal of the season was
assisted by Sergei Brylin and Paul Martin.
Sergei Brylin made it a two goal lead just 1:10 later with his
sixth goal of the season. Jay Pandolfo and Patrik Elias assisted on the
goal.
The Sharks outshot the Devils 14-10 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 3-1.
The Sharks got back within a goal of the Devils when Brian Gionta
accidentally tipped a shot from Kyle Mclaren past Martin Brodeur at
13:54.
