The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 to the Sabres in a shootout in
Buffalo on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.
Michael Ryan gave the Sabres an early 1-0 lead by beating Martin
Brodeur at 2:30 of the first period.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 10-4 in the first period, which
ended with Buffalo leading, 1-0.
Jason Pominville made it 2-0 Buffalo with a goal at 8:04 of the
Karel Rachunek got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Ryan Miller at 15:25. Brian Gionta and John Madden assisted on
Rachunek's third goal of the season.
The shots were even, 6-6 in the second period.
A goal from Mike Mottau at 6:16 of third tied the game, 2-2.
John Madden and Jay Pandolfo assisted on Mottau's third goal of the
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 2-2. For the
fourth time in four meetings this season, the game was also tied after the 5
minute overtime period.
