February 02, 2008 Game 52: Devils Pile On Goals, Beat Kings 6-3
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Los Angeles Kings 6-3 at home
on Saturday, February 2, 2008.
David Clarkson gave the Devils a 1-0 lead when he beat Jason
Labarbera at 4:43 of the first period. Colin White and Sergei Brylin
assisted on Clarkson's sixth goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Kings 10-5 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading, 1-0.
Patrik Elias scored at 2:30 of the second period to give the
Devils a 2 goal lead. Elias' 15th goal of the season was assisted by
Brian Gionta and Johnny Oduya.
Brian Boyle scored his first NHL goal, beating Martin Brodeur at
8:38 to get the Kings on the board and cut the Devils lead to 1 goal.
The Devils took a 3-1 lead when Karel Rachunek scored just 1:15
after Boyle's goal. Jamie Langenbrunner and Dainius Zubrus assisted on
Rachunek's second goal of the season.
Jack Johnson scored at 12:57 to again cut the Devils lead to a
single goal.
Colin White answered with his first goal of the season just 33
seconds after Johnson's goal to re-gain the Devils two goal lead. John
Madden was credited with the only assist on White's goal.
Travis Zajac scored with just 5 seconds remaining in the second
period to give the Devils a 3 goal lead. Dainius Zubrus and Paul Martin
assisted on Zajac's 12th goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 5-2. The
Devils outshot the Kings 14-8 in the period.
Lubmoir Vinovsky scored for L.A. at 14:57 of the third period to
give the Kings hope of a comeback.
Sergei Brylin smashed the Kings hopes with a goal at 16:43.
John Madden and David Clarkson assised on Brylin's fifth goal of the
season.
