January 29, 2008 Game 50: Devils Allow 3 Unanswered Again, Penguins Win 4-2
The New Jersey Devils gave the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-2 win at
the Rock on Tuesday, January 29, 2008.
Mike Rupp gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with his first goal of the
season at 8:54 of the first period on a power-play. Dainius Zubrus and
Patrik Elias assisted on the goal.
The Devils outshot the Penguins 11-8 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.
Jordan Staal tied the game with a goal just 1:12 into the second
period.
Mike Rupp scored his second goal of the game at 13:49 to regain
the lead for New Jersey. Rod Pelley assisted on the goal.
Just 52 seconds after Rupp's goal Erik Chistensen tied the game,
2-2. Ryan Malone gave the Penguins their first lead of the game with a
goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 16:13.
The second period ended with the Penguins leading the Devils,
3-2. The Pens outshot the Devs 10-9 in the second.
Ryan Malone scored his second goal of the game on a power-play at
5:21 of the third period to give the Penguins a 4-2 lead.
The Penguins outshot the Devils 9-5 in the third period and 27-25
in the game.
