January 16, 2008 Game 45: Islanders Beat Devils 3-1
The New Jersey Devils lost at home, 1-3 to the New York Islanders
on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. The Islanders now lead the season series
5-0.
Bill Guerin beat Martin Brodeur on a 5 on 3 power-play at 15:09
of the first period to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
The shots were even, 9-9 in the first period, though the
Islanders led 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Michael Sillinger made it 2-0 Islanders with a goal 4:17 into the
second period.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 13-9 in the second period, which
ended with New York leading 2-0.
Travis Zajac got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat
Rick DiPietro at 7:11 of the third period. Brian Gionta and Dainius
Zubrus assisted on Zajac's ninth goal of the season.
Bill Guerin scored an empty net goal at 19:00 to cap the
Islanders win, 3-1.
