January 10, 2008 Game 43: Devils Defeat Hurricanes 4-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the Hurricanes 4-1 in Raleigh, North
Carolina on Thursday, January 10, 2008.
Travis Zajac gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal
that beat Cam Ward at 12:24 of the first period. Jamie Langenbrunner and
Zach Parise assisted on Zajac's eighth goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Hurricanes 9-6 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Keith Aucoin beat Martin Brodeur 2:41 into the second period to
tie the game, 1-1.
Patrik Elias scored to return the lead to New Jersey.
Elias' 10th goal of the season was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach
Parise.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 2-1. The
Canes outshot the Devils 9-7 in the period.
Brian Gionta tipped the puck past Ward at 12:54 of the third
period on a power-play to give the Devils a 2 goal lead. Andy Greene
and Travis Zajac assisted on Gionta's 13th goal of the season.
Sergei Brylin scored at 18:08 to seal the Devils victory, 4-1.
John Madden and Paul Martin assisted on Brylin's fourth goal of the
season.
