January 04, 2008 Game 40: Devils Shutout Flyers 3-0
The New Jersey Devils beast the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 at home
on Friday, January 4, 2008. The shutout was the fourth of the season for
Martin Brodeur.
Paul Martin beat Martin Biron at 9:41 of the first period to give
New Jersey a 1-0 lead. Johnny Oduya and Patrik Elias assisted on
Martin's second goal of the season.
The Devils took a 2-0 lead when Travis Zajac scored an unassisted
4 on 4 goal at 17:31.
The shots were even, 11-11 in the first period, which ended with
the Devils leading 2-0.
Patrik Elias added a power-play goal at 12:45 of the second period
to increase the Devils lead to three goals. Elias' ninth goal of the
season was assisted by Paul Martin and Zach Parise.
The shots were again even, 11-11 in the second period, but the
Devils led by three goals at the end of 40 minutes.
