The New Jersey Devils beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 in New Jersey
on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
Jamie Langenbrunner gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that
beat Tomas Vokoun at 9:08 of the first period. Dainius Zubrus and Travis
Zajac assisted on Langenbrunner's sixth goal of the season.
Noah Clarke scored his first goal as a Devil at 13:35 to give New
Jersey a 2-0 lead. The goal was assisted by David Clarkson.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 12-6 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 2-0.
David Booth got the Panthers on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur at 7:30 of the second period.
The Panthers outshot the Devils 14-5 in the second period.
Brian Gionta made it 3-1 Devils with a 5 on 3 power-play goal at
3:42 of the third period. Gionta's 12th goal of the season was assisted
by Zach Parise and Jamie Langenbrunner.
Jay Bouwmeester gave Florida hope with a goal at 5:06 to get the
Panthers within one goal.
