December 29, 2007 Game 38: Devils Fail 2-5 on Long Island
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-5 to the Islanders on Long Island
on Saturday, December 29, 2007.
Chris Campoli gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead with a short-handed
goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 5:03 of the first period.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 10-7 in the first period, though
the Islanders led 1-0 in goals.
Marc-Andre Bergeron increased the Islanders lead to 2 goals with
a power-play goal at 12:02 of the second period.
Zach Parise got the Devils on the board with only 25 seconds
remaining in the second period. Parise's 16th goal of the season was
assisted by Brian Gionta and Mike Mottau.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 14-6 in the second period, and
led 2-1 at the end of the period.
John Madden beat Wade Dubielewicz 3:59 into the third period to
tie the game, 2-2. Sheldon Brookbank and Zach Parise assisted on
Madden's 12th goal of the season.
Andy Sutton regained the lead for the Islanders with a goal at
11:43. Sean Bergenheim increased the lead to two goals at 15:02.
An empty net goal from Mike Comrie at 19:44 capped the scoring.
