December 28, 2007 Game 37: Devils Beat Sabres 2-1 In Shootout
The New Jersey Devils beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in a shootout
at the Prudential Center on Friday, December 28, 2007.
Arron Asham had a chance to score with a penalty shot at 16:26 of
the first period, but was unsuccessful.
The first period ended with the game scoreless. The Devils
outshot the Sabres 13-2 in the period.
Ales Kotalik beat Martin Brodeur at 4:36 of the second period to
give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 13-6 in the second period, which
ended with the Sabres leading 1-0.
Mike Mottau scored to tie the game 1-1, beating Ryan Miller at
13:37 of the third period. Colin White and Sergei Brylin assisted on
Mottau's second goal of the season.
Regulation time ended with the teams tied, 1-1. The Devils
outshot the Sabres 13-10 in the third period.
Neither team scored in the overtime period, sending the game to a
shootout.
Martin Brodeur stopped all three Buffalo shooters and Zach Parise
scored on his chance to win the game for New Jersey.
