November 17, 2007 Game 20: Marty Gets Win 500! Devils Beat Flyers 6-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Flyers 6-2 in Philadelphia on
Saturday, November 17, 2007. The win was the 500th of Martin Brodeur's
career - only the second netminder to ever reach the mark.
Dainius Zubrus beat Martin Biron at 10:04 of the first period to
give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Andy Greene and Travis Zajac assisted on
Zubrus' fourth goal of the season.
Karel Rachunek gave the Devils a 2-0 lead when he scored his
first goal of the season at 12:47. Dainius Zubrus assisted on the
goal.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 9-8 in the first period, and led
2-0 on the scoreboard.
Patrik Elias added a goal at 3:33 of the second period to
increase the Devils lead. Elias' fourth goal of the season was assisted
by Zach Parise and Johnny Oduya.
Mike Richards got the Flyers on the board with a goal that beat
Martin Brodeur at 15:54.
Jay Pandolfo scored his seventh goal of the season unassisted at
18:18 to regain a 3 goal lead for New Jersey.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 13-7 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading 4-1.
Antero Niittymaki tookover in the Flyers net at the start of the
third period. Scottie Upshall scored for Philadelphia just 27 seconds
into the third period, to give the Flyers hope.
Brian Gionta floated the puck over Niittymaki with a great
backhand shot at 2:33 to give the Devils a 5-2 lead. Gionta's fifth goal
of the season was assisted by Zach Parise.
nbsp; Zach Parise scored just 32 seconds after Gionta's goal to give
New Jersey a 4 goal lead. Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta assisted on
Parise's sixth goal of the season.
