March 08, 2007 Game 68: Devils Beat Penguins: 4-3 (Shootout)
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Penguins 4-3 in Pittsburgh
in a shootout on Thursday, March 8, 2007.
Evgeni Malkin beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 6:48 of the
first period to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Penguins 12-9 in the first period, but
Pittsburgh led 1-0.
3:34 into the second period, Andy Greene scored his first career
NHL goal on a power-play. Patrik Elias and Brian Rafalski assisted on
Greene's goal, which tied the game, 1-1.
Sergei Brylin scored a fantastic goal while falling at 14:57 to
give the Devils their first lead of the game. Johnny Oduya and Sott
Gomez assisted on Brylin's 15th goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Penguins,
2-1. The Devils outshot the Penguins 14-8 in the period.
Sergei Gonchar beat Martin Brodeur with a short-handed goal that
tied the game at 7:32 of the third period.
Travis Zajac scored his 13th goal of the season at 11:38 to give
the Devils a 3-2 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise assisted on
Zajac's goal.
Michel Ouellet tied the game with a goal at 17:22.
