December 19, 2006 Game 33: Devils Lose 3-4 To Thrashers In Shootout
The New Jersey Devils lost 3-4 at home to the Atlanta Thrashers
on Tuesday, December 19, 2006.
Marian Hossa beat Martin Brodeur with a short-handed goal at 7:59
of the first period to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead.
The Thrashers outshot the Devils 8-7 in the first period, which
ended with Atlanta leading, 1-0.
Sergei Brylin tied the game with a power-play goal that beat Kari
Lehtonen at 6:37 of the second period. Zach Parise and Brian Rafalski
assisted on Brylin's seventh goal of the season.
Johnny Oduya got his first career NHL goal at 9:09 to give the
Devils a 2-1 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Travis Zajac assisted on
Oduya's goal.
Jonathan Sim beat scored for Atlanta at 16:24 to tie the game,
2-2.
The Devils outshot the Thrashers 17-10 in the second period,
which ended with the score tied, 2-2.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored a 5 on 3 power-play goal at 6:43 of
the third to give the Devils a 3-2 lead. Scott Gomez and Patrik Elias
assisted on Langenbrunner's 14th goal of the season.
Marian Hossa scored his second short-handed goal of the game just
19 seconds after Langenbrunner's goal to tie the game, 3-3.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 3-3, forcing overtime.
Neither team scored in the five minute overtime period, sending the game
to a shootout.
