The New Jersey Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-0 in
New Jersey on Friday, December 8, 2006. The shutout was the 84th of
Martin Brodeur's career.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Antero Niittymaki 3:37 into the first
period on a power-play to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Patrik Elias and
Brian Gionta assisted on Langenbrunner's 10th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 12-8 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Brian Gionta scored at 11:47 of the second period on a power-play
to increase the Devils lead to 2 goals. Scott Gomez and Brian Rafalski
assisted on Gionta's 12th goal of the season.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 9-7 in the second period.
Neither team was able to score in the third period.
