November 14, 2006 Game 17: Devils Collapse in 90 Seconds, Lose 3-2 to Rangers
The New Jersey Devils suffered a 3-2 loss to the Rangers in New
York on Tuesday, November 14, 2006. The Rangers scored 3 goals in 90
seconds to get the win.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Henrik Lundqvist with a long shot at
9:05 of the first period to give the Devila a 1-0 lead. Langenbrunner's
fifth goal of the season was assisted by Zach Parise and Brian Rafalski.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 7-3 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Brian Gionta beat Lundqvist at 15:34 of the second period on a 5
on 3 power-play to give the Devils a 2-0 lead. Patrik Elias and Brian
Rafalski assisted on Gionta's eighth goal of the season.
The Rangers outshot the Devils 11-5 in the second period.
Jaromir Jagr beat Martin Brodeur at 2:05 of the third period to
cut the Devils lead to one goal. Jagr scored again 26 seconds later on a
crazily fluttering puck that went high over Brodeur and into the net.
Brendan Shanahan scored just 1:04 later to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead.
The shots were even, 10-10 in the third period.
