April 13, 2006 Game 80: Devils Defeat Flyers 4-1, Extend Streak to 9
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 at
home on Thursday, April 13, 2006 to extend their winning streak to 9
games.
Sergei Brylin gave the Devils a 1-0 lead when he beat Philly
goaltender Robert Esche at 10:20 of the first period. Brylin's 15th goal
of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta.
Zach Parise tipped a shot from Brian Gionta past Esche at 18:20
to increase the Devils lead to 2 goals. Scott Gomez also assisted on
Parise's 13th of the season.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 10-6 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 2-0.
Scott Gomez increased the Devils lead with a power-play goal at
14:14 of the second period. Gomez's 32nd goal of the season was assisted
by Patrik Elias and Brian Rafalski.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Flyers, 3-0.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 17-13 in the period.
Nicholas Dimitrakos got the Flyers on the board when he beat
Martin Brodeur at 4:03 of the third period on a power-play.
Zach Parise regained the Devils 3 goal lead, beating Esche at
8:25. Parise's second goal of the game was assisted by Brian Gionta and
Colin White.
