March 30, 2006 Game 73: Devils Defeat Sabres 3-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 at home on
Thursday, March 30, 2006.
51 seconds into the first period, John Madden beat Martin Biron
to give the Devils an early 1-0 lead. Madden's 14th goal of the season
was assisted by Paul Martin and Colin White.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 16-8 in the first period, though
the Devils led 1-0.
Niether team was able to score a goal and the shots were even,
7-7, in the second period.
Zach Parise gave the Devils a 2-0 lead with a goal at 9:29 of the
third period. Scott Gomez and David Hale assisted on Parise's 11th goal
of the season.
Tim Connolly ruined Brodeur's shutout bid with a goal at 14:47 of
the third period.
Brian Gionta scored his 41st goal of the season at 15:52.
Scott Gomez assisted on Gomez's goal, which gave the Devils a 3-1 lead.
The game ended with the Devils beating the Sabres, 3-1.
