February 01, 2006Game 53: Devils Beat Senators 5-3
The Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators, 5-3 in New Jersey on
Wednesday, February 1, 2006.
Zach Parise beat Dominik Hasek just 1:40 into the first period to
give the Devils an early 1-0 lead. Sergei Brylin was credited with the
only assist on Parise's seventh goal of the season.
Grant Marshall gave the Devils a 2-0 lead, scoring at 14:39 on a
power-play. Marshall's seventh goal of the season was assisted by Paul
Martin and Colin White.
Jamie Langenbrunner increased the Devils lead with a goal just 44
seconds after Marshall's goal. John Madden assisted on Langenbrunner's
11th goal of the season.
Antoine Vermette beat Martin Brodeur at 17:35 to cut the Devils
lead to 2 goals.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Senators, 3-1.
The Devils outshot the Sens 11-9 in the period.
Dany Heatley made it a one goal game when he beat Brodeur at 7:44
of the second period.
Sergei Brylin added a power-play goal at 19:37 to make it a 4-2
Devils lead. Grant Marshall and Zach Parise assisted on Brylin's 11th
goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Senators 11-8 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading the Sens 4-2.
Erik Rasmussen beat Hasek with a great backhand shot at 2:59 of
the third period to make it a 5-2 Devils lead. Paul Martin and John
Madden assisted on Rasmussen's third goal of the season.
Patrick Eaves cut the Devils lead back to 2 goals when he beat
Brodeur at 5:44.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Senators, 5-3.
The Senators outshot the Devils 13-8 in the third period.
