January 24, 2006 Game 50: Devils Shutout Islanders: 4-0
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Islanders, 4-0 in New York
on Tuesday, January 24, 2006.
Scott Gomez beat Rick DiPietro on a power-play at 10:41 of the
first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and
Patrik Elias assisted on Gomez's 19th goal of the season.
The Devils led the Islanders 1-0 at the end of the first period -
though the Islanders outshot the Devils 11-9.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored just 19 seconds into the second period
to make it a 2-0 Devils lead. John Madden and Jay Pandolfo assisted on
Langenbrunner's 10th goal of the season.
Brian Gionta added a power-play goal at 4:34 to increase the
Devils lead. Patrik Elias and Scott Gomez assisted on Gionta's 29th goal
of the season.
Viktor Kozlov made it a 4-0 Devils lead with a goal at 9:56.
Sergei Brylin assisted on Kozlov's 11th goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Islanders
4-0. The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-3 in the second.
There were no goals scored in the third period - the game ended
with the Devils defeating the Islanders, 4-0.
