January 09, 2006 Game 43: Devils & Brodeur Shutout Flyers 3-0
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 at
home on Monday, January 9, 2006. The shutout was Martin Brodeur's
second of the season.
Zach Parise beat Antero Niittymaki at 14:47 of the first period
on a power-play to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Brian Gionta and Patrik
Elias assisted on Parise's sixth goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 6-4 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Niittymaki on a power-play at 11:42 of
the second period to increase the Devils lead. Brian Rafalski and Scott
Gomez assisted on Langenbrunner's eighth goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Flyers, 2-0.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 7-4 in the period.
Scott Gomez made it a 3-0 lead with a goal at 8:08 of the third
period. Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta assisted on Gomez's 17th goal of
the season.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Flyers 3-0.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 11-6 in the third period and 22-16 in the
game.
