November 25, 2005 Game 22: Devils Destroy Lightning 8-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Lightning easily, 8-2 in Tampa
Bay on Friday, November 25, 2005.
Alexander Mogilny took a great pass from Viktor Kozlov on a
power-play and put it past Sean Burke at 4:05 to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
Kozlov was credited with the only assist on Mogilny's seventh goal of
the season.
Scott Gomez made it a 2-0 Devils lead with a nice goal at 9:52
of the first period. Gomez's seventh goal of the season was assisted by
Brian Gionta and Viktor Kozlov.
Just 1:05 after Gomez's goal, Sergei Brylin scored to increase
the Devils lead to 3 goals. Brylin's seventh goal of the season was
assisted by Alexander Mogilny.
Brian Gionta beat Burke at 12:53 to make it a 4-0 Devils lead.
Viktor Kozlov assisted on Gionta's 15th goal of the season.
The Lightning got on the board when Fredrik Modin beat Martin
Brddeur at 17:09 to cut the Devils lead to 3 goals.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Lightning,
4-1. The Lightning outshot the Devils 9-8 in the period.
Alexander Mogilny scored his second goal of the game at 5:41 of
the second period to make it a 5-1 Devils lead. John Madden and Jay
Pandolfo assisted on the goal.
Martin St. Louis pushed Brodeur and the puck into the net at
6:51 - and the goal was allowed, to cut the Devils lead to 3 goals.
Viktor Kozlov beat Burke at 9:13 to make it a 6-2 Devils lead.
Kozlov's sixth goal of the season was assisted by Brian Gionta and Dan
McGillis.
Sergei Brylin scored his 100th career NHL goal, beating John
Grahame at 16:58 of the second period. Brylin's second goal of the game
was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and Viktor Kozlov.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Lightning,
7-2. The Devils outshot Tampa Bay 11-8 in the period.
Jamie Langenbrunner smashed another nail into the Tampa coffin,
beating Grahame at 13:56 for the Devils eighth goal of the game. Sergei
Brylin assisted on Langenbrunner's fifth goal of the season.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Lightning, 8-2.
Tampa outshot the Devils 9-7 in the third period; the shots were even,
26-26 in the game.
