November 08, 2005 Game 15: Islanders Defeat Devils 4-1
The New Jersey Devils lost 4-1 at home to the New York Islanders
on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. The loss increased the Devils losing
streak to 4 games. The Devils next game will be at 1:00PM on
Friday.
Mattias Weinhandl beat Clemmensen just 2:57 into the first
period. Sean Bates increased the Islanders lead by scoring at
11:35.
The first period ended with the Islanders leading the Devils,
2-0. The Devils outshot the Islanders 10-8 in the period.
Vladimir Malakhov beat Rick DiPietro with a blast from the point
at 7:12 of the second period on a Devils 5 on 3 power-play to get the Devils
on the board. Malakhov's third goal of the season was assisted by Paul
Martin and Jamie Langenbrunner.
Oleg Kvasha beat Clemmensen on the power-play at 17:38 to give
the Islanders a 3-1 lead.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 8-7 in the seconds period,
though the Islanders led, 3-1.
Jason Blake sealed the Islanders win with a goal with just 1:02
remaining. The Devils outshot the Islanders 8-5 in the third period and
26-20 in the game.
Alexander Mogilny was a healthy scratch.
