March 13, 2004Game 71: Flyers Beat Devils: 2-1
The New Jersey Devils were defeated 2-1 in Philadelphia by the
Flyers on Saturday, March 13, 2004.
Simon Gagne beat Martin Brodeur just 1:36 into the first period
to give the Flyers an early lead.
The first period ended with the Flyers leading, 1-0. The
Devils outshot the Flyers 10-7 in the period.
Scott Gomez beat Robert Esche at 15:28 of the second period, to
tie the game, 1-1. Jiri Bicek and Scott Niedermayer assisted on Gomez's
10 goal of the season.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Flyers 16-5 in the period.
Marcus Ragnarsson beat Brodeur just 23 seconds into the third
period to regain the lead for the Flyers.
The Devils pulled Brodeur and went with an extra skater for the
final 1:19 of regulation time, but were unable to score. The Devils
outshot the Flyers 13-8 in the third period and 38-21 in the game.
The Flyers won the season series, 3-2-1.
