Game 52: Devils Beat Senators 2-1

The New Jersey Devils defeated the Ottawa Senators, 2-1 at home on Tuesday, February 3, 2004.

Here are a few of my pictures from the game.

There was no scoring in the first period, however the Devils clearly outplayed the Senators -- outshooting them 15-6.

Radek Bonk put the puck past Martin Brodeur at 14:11 of the second period to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead.

David Hale left the ice with a knee injury with just 2:10 remaining in the second period.   He did not return.

With just 53 seconds remaining, Patrik Elias beat Patrick Lalime to tie the game.   Elias' 20th goal of the season was assisted by Scott Gomez and Paul Martin.

The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1.   The Senators outshot the Devils, 9-5 in the period.

Jeff Friesen gave the Devils their first lead of the game at 13:47 of the third period.   Jamie Langenbrunner and Sergei Brylin assisted on Friesen's 12th goal of the season.

The Devils held onto the lead and won the game, 2-1.   The Senators outshot the Devils 9-6 in the third period, but were outshot 26-24 in the game.

The Devils won the season series, 3 games to 1.
