May 31, 2003 Round 4 Game 3: Ducks Beat Devils, 3-2 In Overtime
The New Jersey Devils were defeated 3-0 in overtime, in Anaheim
by the Mighty Ducks on Satursday, May 31, 2003.
The first period ended without a goal scored. The Ducks
outshot the Devils 9-8 in the period.
Martin Brodeur's shutout streak was stopped by Marc Chouinard at
3:39 of the second period. The streak was the second longest shutout
streak to start a Stanley Cup series (143:39).
Patrik Elias blasted the puck past Giguere at 14:02 of the second
period, to tie the game, 1-1. Jamie Langenbrunner and Brian Rafalski
assisted on Elias' fourth goal of the playoffs.
Sandis Ozolinsh slapped the put in from the blue line just 45
seconds after the Elias goal. Brodeur went to play the puck, but it
seemed to knock the stick out of his hand, past him, into the net.
The second period ended with the Ducks leading the Devils, 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Ducks 12-9 in the period.
Scott Gomez deflected the puck over Giguere at 9:11 of the third
period to tie the game, 2-2. Grant Marshall and Patrik Elias assisted on
Gomez's third goal of the playoffs.
The third period ended with the game tied, 2-2. The Ducks
outshot the Devils 10-8 in the period.
Ruslan Salei beat Martin Brodeur 6:59 into the first overtime
period to win the game for the Ducks, 3-2.
