The New Jersey Devils fell, 5-4 to the Flames in overtime in
Calgary on Wednesday, March 5, 2003.
Scott Stevens smacked a rebound past Roman Turek with just 6
seconds remaining in the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
Stevens' 2nd goal of the season was assisted by Scott Gomez and Patrik
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Flames, 1-0.
The Devils outshot the Flames, 11-7 in the period.
Brian Rafalski backhanded the puck past Turek at 18:18 of the
second period. Rafalski's 3rd goal of the season was assisted by John
Madden and Brian Gionta.
Martin Gelinas beat Schwab with 1:06 remaining in the second, and
Rob Niedermayer put another one in 48 seconds later to tie the game.
The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2. The
Flames outshot the Devils 11-5 in the period.
Chris Drury gave the Flames a 3-2 lead by beating Schwab at 7:33
of the third period.
Patrik Elias was able to beat Turek just 49 seconds after Drury's
goal to tie the game, 3-3. Elias's 18th goal of the season was assisted
by Brian Gionta and Scott Gomez.
Jamie Langenbrunner gave the Devils a 4-3 lead with his 19th goal
of the season. Jeff Friesen and Joe Nieuwendyk assisted on the

Schwab to tie the game, 4-4.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 4-4. Martin
Gelinas got his second goal of the game at 1:54 of the overtime period to win
the game for the Flames.
