January 24, 2003 Game 47: Devils Beat Ducks: 3-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Mighty Ducks, 3-1 in Anaheim
on Friday, January 24, 2003.
Jeff Friesen gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead, just 24 seconds
into the first period. Brian Rafalski and Scott Stevens assisted on
Friesen's 13th goal of the season.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Ducks, 1-0.
The Devils outshot Anaheim 8-4 in the period.
Adam Oates took a nice feed from Petr Sykora with just 46 seconds
remaining in the second period to tie the game.
The second period ended with the game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Ducks 10-8 in the period.
Jay Pandolfo beat Gerber shorthanded at 8:37 of the third period
to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. John Madden and Scott Stevens assisted on
Pandolfo's 4th goal of the season.
Jamie Langenbrunner got an empty net goal with just 3 seconds
remaining in the third period. Scott Niedermayer and Scott Stevens
assisted on Langenbrunner's 14th goal of the season.
The game ended with the Devils winning, 3-1. The Devils
outshot the Ducks 11-8 in the third period, and 29-20 in the game.
Scott Stevens assisted on all three Devils goals.
The Devils now lead the lifetime series, 12-5-0-0.
