Pre-Season Game 7: Islanders Defeat Devils, 5-2
    The New Jersey Devils were defeated, 5-2 at Nassau Coliseum on Tuesday, October 1, 2002.
    The game was played early (11:00AM), because the Islanders were hosting their second "Cool School Field Trip".   16,234 children between the age of 3-8 were in attendance.
    Just 2:46 into the first period, Turner Stevenson and Eric Godard dropped their gloves and fought.
    Adrian Aucoin gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 12:22 of the first period.
    The Devils outshot the Islanders 16-7 in the first period, but trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard.
    Jamie Langenbrunner tied the game at 4:07 of the second period.   Langenbrunner's first goal of the pre-season was assisted by Scott Stevens and Patrik Elias.
    Corey Schwab took over netminding duty for the Devils about half way through the second period.
  &nbap; 12:21 into the second period, Turner Stevenson and Eric Godard got together for their second fight of the game.
    Alexei Yashin scored for the Islanders at 13:11 of the second, to regain a 1 goal advantage.
    Brad Isbister scored just 28 seconds later to give the Islanders a 3-1 lead.
    Jamie Langebrunner got his second goal of the game, on the power-play with just 19 seconds remaining in the second period.   The goal was assisted by Tommy Albelin and Andrei Zyuzin.
    The second period ended with the Islanders leading the Devils, 3-2.   The Devils outshot the Islanders 13-8 in the second period.
    Adrian Aucoin got his second goal of the game on the power-play to give the Islanders a 4-2 lead at 16:03 of the third period.
    The Devils pulled Scwab late in the game, in an attempt to even the score and force overtime, but were unsuccessful.   With 9 seconds remaining in regulation time, Claude Lapointe scored an empty net goal.
    The game ended with the Islanders winning, 5-2.
    The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-10 in the third period and 41-25 in the game.   Rick DiPietro stopped 39 of 41 shots.
