The New Jersey Devils were defeated, 5-2 at Nassau
Coliseum on Tuesday, October 1, 2002.
The game was played early (11:00AM), because the
Islanders were hosting their second "Cool School Field Trip".
16,234 children between the age of 3-8 were in
Just 2:46 into the first period, Turner Stevenson
and Eric Godard dropped their gloves and fought.

the second, to regain a 1 goal advantage.
Brad Isbister scored just 28 seconds later
to give the Islanders a 3-1 lead.
Jamie Langebrunner got his second goal of the game,
on the power-play with just 19 seconds remaining in the second
period. The goal was assisted by Tommy Albelin and Andrei

the Devils, 3-2. The Devils outshot the Islanders 13-8 in
the second period.
Adrian Aucoin got his second goal of the game on
the power-play to give the Islanders a 4-2 lead at 16:03 of the
The Devils pulled Scwab late in the game, in an
attempt to even the score and force overtime, but were
unsuccessful. With 9 seconds remaining in regulation time,
Claude Lapointe scored an empty net goal.
The game ended with the Islanders winning, 5-2.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 12-10 in the third
