The New Jersey Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers,
1-0 at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2002.
The first was a tight-checking, slow-paced period, with only
11 shots - 6-5 Flyers. There was no scoring in the period.
The Devils won 12 of 22 faceoffs in the period.
There were a few more chances in the second period, but still
no scoring. The Flyers outshot the Devils 9-8 and won 12 of 21
faceoffs in the period.
Ken Daneyko almost had his first goal in a few seasons, but
the shot was blocked by Roman Cechmanek. John Madden took the rebound
and found the back of the net. Madden's 13th goal of the season came
at 9:18 of the third period.
The game ended with the Devils defeating the Flyers, 1-0.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 22-19 in the game.
The win temporarily puts the Devils ahead of the Islanders
for sixth place in the division.
This shutout was Marty's 4th of the season and the 55th of his
Andrei Zyuzin and Andreas Salomonsson were healthy scratches,
Stephane Richer was also scratched (sore foot).
