Capitals Defeat Devils at Home, 3-1
The New Jersey Devils were defeated at home by the Washington Capitals 3-1, on Friday, March 29, 2002.

Patrik Elias gave the Devils a 1-0 lead at 10:01 of the first period by beating Olaf Kolzig with a nice shot.   Elias's 26th goal of the season was assisted by Petr Sykora.
Andrei Nikolishin beat John Vanbiesbrouck at 14:37 of the first period to tie the game, 1-1.
The first period ended with the game tied.   Shots were also tied, 7-7 in the period.
Ken Daneyko had an excellent opportunity to end his goal scoring drought just 40 seconds into the second period, but failed to put the puck past Kolzig.
